David Welling

Chief Solutions Officer

David joined Black Diamond in January 2010 as the company’s Chief Solutions Officer.  In this role, David oversees sales, marketing, product management and client solutions.

Prior to joining Black Diamond, David was Vice President at Schwab Advisor Services, the industry’s largest custodian for Registered Investment Advisors (RIA).  While at Schwab, David served in various leadership positions in strategy, marketing, practice management and general management for over twelve years.  David was instrumental in leading many of the innovations over the last decade in the RIA industry, including Schwab’s retail referral strategy to RIAs and spearheading the creation of one of the industry’s most respected practice management and business consulting offerings. As head of the practice management group at Schwab, David worked directly with some of the largest and most successful advisory firms in the industry helping them optimize growth, productivity and profitability.

Prior to Schwab, David was a Consultant at Bain & Company in San Francisco after receiving his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. David graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Middlebury College with a Bachelors Degree in Economics with concentrations in Physics and Creative Writing.  While at Middlebury, David was a member of the men’s soccer and alpine ski teams.
