Chris Haley

Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel

Chris joined Black Diamond in August of 2007 as the Company’s Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel.  In this role, Chris oversees all financial and legal aspects at the company, as well as assisting with strategic planning.

Prior to joining Black Diamond, Chris practiced law at Bass, Berry & Sims, PLC in Nashville, Tennessee as a member of the firm’s Corporate and Securities and Tax Practice Areas.  Chris counseled a variety of public and private companies, venture capital and private equity funds and individuals at all stages of development.  His practiced focused on the corporate and tax implications affecting start-ups, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, particularly with respect to companies engaged in real estate development, ownership and operation and those operating within the health care sector. 

Chris graduated from the University of Mississippi where he received a Bachelor of Accountancy, magna cum laude, and a Master of Taxation.  He received his juris doctorate degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee School of Law, where he served as Managing Editor of the Tennessee Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif.  Following law school, Chris obtained his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law where he received the Harry J. Rudick award for distinction in the Graduate Tax Program.

Prior to attending law school, Chris worked for Ernst & Young, LLP in Memphis, Tennessee where he was a member of the firm’s Tax Consulting Practice.
